Learning World Models with a Constructivist Agent

This work proposes an agent learning architecture based on the constructivist approach. First we show how Artificial Intelligence can incorporate some concepts from Jean Piaget's psychology to form Constructivist AI as an alternative branch of AI. Details about the proposed architecture are presented, and a discussion about autonomy is made. We focus mainly on the learning method, and the kind of environmental regularities that can be discovered by the mechanism. Finally, some experimental results are reported and we discuss how this agent architecture can lead to the construction of abstract concepts.
